ASSUMPTION
Officials of the Governor’s Office assume no fiscal impact.
Officials of the Lt. Governor’s Office assume no fiscal impact.
Officials of the Office of the Attorney General assume no fiscal impact.
Officials of the Offices of the Secretary of State - Elections Division, State Treasurer, and State Auditor assume no fiscal impact.
Officials of the Missouri Ethics Commission assume no fiscal impact.
Officials of the Missouri House of Representatives and Missouri State Senate assume no fiscal impact.
Officials of the Platte County Board of Elections Commission assumes if the burden of proof falls on the election authority to verify that candidates have not pled or been convicted of a felony, then the local election authority could have some costs associated with background checks and going to court to have a candidate’s name removed from the ballot.
Officials of the Sullivan County Clerk’s Office assume there could be limited fiscal impact; however, officials did not offer any explanation.
Oversight assumes that current law prohibits felons from holding office in Missouri. Oversight assumes this proposal strengthens and clarifies current law.
Oversight assumes local election authorities would have no new or additional duty to perform.
Oversight assumes no state or local fiscal impact.
