1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 169.045, subdivision 1, is amended to read:
1.7    Subdivision 1. Designation of roadway, permit. The governing body of any a
1.8county, home rule charter or statutory city, or town may shall by ordinance authorize
1.9the operation of motorized golf carts, or four-wheel all-terrain vehicles, on designated
1.10roadways or portions thereof under its jurisdiction. Authorization to operate a motorized
1.11golf cart or four-wheel all-terrain vehicle is by permit only. For purposes of this section, a
1.12four-wheel all-terrain vehicle is a motorized flotation-tired vehicle with four low-pressure
1.13tires that is limited in engine displacement of less than 800 cubic centimeters and total dry
1.14weight of less than 600 pounds.
